LOOKING AFTER LATEX

If you are new to wearing latex, these tips on how to properly care for your garments might come in handy!

CLEANING

  • After wearing latex clothing, rinse it with lukewarm water to remove sweat, oils, and any other residue.
  • Use a mild, non perfumed soap or specific latex cleaners. Avoid using harsh chemicals as they can damage the latex.
  • Gently clean the surface of the latex with a soft cloth or sponge. Do not scrub vigorously.
  • Rinse the garment thoroughly with clean water.
  • Pat dry with a clean towel and allow to air dry. Avoid wringing or twisting the latex as it can cause damage.
  • Lightly talc once your garment is completely dry and before storing.

POLISHING

  • Your latex will come lightly talced. This is to ensure it is protected whilst not being worn. You can wear your latex non-shiny but if you choose to polish it (as shown in protect photos) you should use a soft cloth or your fingertips to spread latex polish evenly over the material.
  • Buff the latex gently with a clean, dry cloth to achieve a shiny finish.
  • Avoid using oil-based products or those containing petroleum jelly as they can degrade the latex over time.

STORAGE

  • Store latex clothing in a cool, dark place away from direct sunlight, heat sources, and humidity.
  • Avoid folding or creasing the latex for extended periods as this can cause permanent damage.
  • Hang latex garments on padded or wide hangers to help them maintain their shape.
  • Use a dust cover or garment bag to protect latex clothing from dust and light exposure when not in use.

AVOIDING CONTACT

  • Keep latex clothing away from sharp objects, rough surfaces, and materials that can cause abrasions or punctures.
  • Avoid contact with metals, including jewellery, zippers, and hangers, as they can discolour or stain the latex.

PREVENTATIVE METHODS

  • Apply talcum powder or a silicone-based lubricant to the inside of the latex garment before to reduce friction and aid in putting it on.
  • Avoid prolonged exposure to water, oils, and greases as they can degrade the latex material.
